CRICKET.
COUNTRY GAMES. The Ellesmere cricket competition commenced on Saturday, Dunsandel journeying to Lincoln College. The latter won by 101 runs. The scores were: College 177 (Walkden 75, Smith 31, I. Manning 19, Ludbrook 13, Beale 12), Dunsandel 76 (C. A. Wright 16, C. Smith 16, T. Jamieson 14). Cowper and Beale for College, and T. Jamieson, Jas. Burgess, and P. Chamberlain for Dunsandel, divided the bowling honours. West Eyreton cricket team met Ohoka B at West Eyreton on Saturday, and defeated the latter by 73 runs to 24. Bowling for West Eyreton, H. Mcßeth took seven wickets for five runs, and C. Marshall five for 14. Swannanoa met Ohoka A at Ohoka, and won easily. Ohoka\made 68 runs and their opponents scored 141 for five wickets. MONCK 'S BAY. The annual meeting of the Monok's Bay Cricket Club took place last Friday night, the captain (Mr ,R. W. Britton) in the chair. There was a full attendance of members. The report and bal-ance-sheet, which were adopted as presented, showed the club to be in a good financial position. The captain reported that 16 games were played last year, twelve of which were won. He said the prospects for the coming season were very bright. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr J. Smith; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Berkley and H. Andrews; captain, Mr R. W. Britton; vice-captain, Mr A, Partridge; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr G. D. Grey; general committee, Messrs S. Otley S. Horsnall, van Brunt, H. L. Berry, and P. Hooper. It was decided to open the season next Saturday with a match against Redeliffs for the Challenge Cup.
