NEWS AND NOTES. The campaign for the Avon seat will be opened this evening by Mr H. D. Acland, the Government candidate, who will address a meeting in the Methodist Schoolroom, Fitzgerald Avenue, at 8 p.m. To-morrow evening he will address a meeting at the Pier Hall, New Brighton, also at 8 o'clock. i ■ Mr David Jones, Reform candidate for Kaiapoi, speaks at Rangiora institute Hall to-night, and at East Oxford Hall on Wednesday. Mr W, A. Banks speaks at Hawarden to-night, and at Mason's Flat oh Tuesday evening. Mr Joseph Hamlet addresses the electors at Hororata to-morrow evening, and at Dorie on Thursday evening. Mr Bertram Bunn, Reform candidate for Eiccarton, will address the electors at the Oddfellows' Hall, Upper Eiccarton, on Thursday next, at 8 p.m. TIMARU SEAT. Press Aes«ciati*n- : TIMARU, October 19. Owing to his son going to the front, Mr James Wallace has decided not to eolitest the election as Reform candidate for Tiinaru. It is rumoured that Mr F. H. Smith, M.P. for Waitaki, will be approved.
