BRITISH LOSSES SLIGHT. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The High Commissioner reports: — LONDON, October 18. Official: The losses in the destroyer action to-day were one officer and four men wounded. The damage to the British destroyers was slight. Thirtyone German survivors were rescued and arc now prisoners of war. NEW AUSTRALIAN FORCE. FOR SERVICE IN TROPICS. A CHANCE FOR MIDDLE-AGED MEN. The Governor has received the following communication from the Administrator of Samoa: — The general health of the troops is good. Dysentery: Corporals Tangey and Collier (Railway Engineers), Baddingtou (sth Regiment), Privates Small (Railway Engineers), Stanley (Railway Engineers), Harjisby (3rd Regiment), Sergt. Anderson (Army Service Corps). Fever: Privates Callingham (3rd Regiment), Allison, and Beer (Railway Engineers), Quayle (Army Service Corps), James (sth Regiment). Rheumatism: Braughton (Railway Engineers).
