UNITED PIGEON FANCIERS' CLUB.
The second annual meeting of the United Pigeon Fanciers' Club was held at the rooms on Thursday evening, the president, Mr A. Smith, presiding over a large attendance of me; t)er-s., The annual report: congratulated the club on its highly satisfactory position. The membership totalled 40. During the season the niembers -had exhibited at numerous shows' in the Dominion with great success, and Messrs Macquarie. and Smith, T. H. Jones, F. Kingsford, G. Hales, and W. Grant, members; of the club, had won all the championships offered by the South Island Association.; The club shews, had not been so numerous as in the previous year. The " specials were awarded to Messrs T. F. Jones, N. Yale, G. Hales, and Macquarie and Smith. At the close ' of the season the club had held a very interesting exhibition of members' exhibits, some 175 entries being received. The show was well attended and the club was congratulated on its exceptionally fine display. Messrs E. Fi Stead, A. Walker, and J. Ashley had addressed the club members on important matters connected with the fancy, and the "information . given had been greatly appreciated. Reference -was made to the loss the fancy had sustained through -the death of the late Mr G. A. Macquarie, really the father of the fancy. Special votes of thanks were accorded the judges of the club shows, and the Press for valuable assistance. The balance-sheet showed the club finances to be in a very flourishing condition. The receipts were £34 2/6, and
the expenditure £l6 3/2, leaving a credit balance of £l7 19/4. The annual report and,balance-sheet were, on the motion of the chairman, and Mr F. Kingsford, unanimously adopted. The election of officers resulted as/follow:-7-President, Mr A. Smith; vice-presidents, Messrs E. F. Stead, A. Gapes, F. Kingsford, and. J. M. McLean; lion, secretary and treasurer, Mr A. B. Menzies; lion, auditor, Mr Arthur Gapes. The chairman 'presented the special prizes won at the recent show to Mr 6. Clarke for Croppers, Mr E. F. Stead for Dragoons, Mi* S. Otley for Owls, Messrs T. 11. Jones (2) and A. B, Mgnzies (2) for CleanJiegged Tumblers, Mr Arthur Gapes for Muffled Tumblers, Mr G. Hales for Magpies, and Messrs F. Kingsford, T. Newton, > . f E.V^pwerV'.(|)>,V % and F. for Working Homers. It was decided that Mr T. H. Jones should give a lecture on. •f'Mating of birjs for breeding" at' the next club meeting. ' : v
