OBITUARY.
MRS T. A. GATES, ASHBTJRTON. Press Association. ASHBUKTON, September 20. An old arid esteemed resident of Ashburton, Mrs Thomas A. Gates,, dierj on Saturday evening. Mrs Gate. was born in Bristol, England, in 1832,. and with her husband (who survives lier) came to New Zealand in 1864, settling first in Cliristch'urch. She has lived in .Ashburton since 1879, and leaves many descendants, including seven greatgrandchildren.
