RIFLE SHOOTING.

CHRISTCHURCH CLUB. The Christchurch Rifle Club held its first competition of the season on Saturday afternoon, at the Cashmere range. The scores were as follow:

These scores also counted in the contest for the Watkinson Shield, which was won outright by the club last season. Only those members of the club who had helped to win the shield were eligible to compete, the result being:—

Rifleman N. Wood formally handed the shield back to the club, as had been mutually agreed to beforehand, for future competition.

WORKING MEN'S CLUB. . At the Redcliffs rifle range on Saturday last the Christchurch Working Men's Club fired their first match. The shooting on the whole was very good, considering the members have had only one practice before. A good performance was put up by Rifleman R. Piper, who made 101 with his 11 points handicap. Rifleman Rosanowski had the honour of making the first bullseye, and R. Jack succeeded in making the first possible at 200 yards. Following are the highest scores: —
