GENERAL MEETING. A general meeting of the Christchureh Women's Christian Temperance Union was held on Wednesday. Mrs J. MeGombs presided. A motion of sympathy with Mrs Williams in her bereavement was passed. The Rev. T. F. Taylor, chaplain to the Expeditionary Force, wrote saying that the leaflet, '' An Appeal to the Men of New Zealand" would be duly distributed among the men. Acknowledgments of resolutions passed in connection with the recommendations of the Special Committee of the Wellington Charitable Aid Board, set up to consider the subject of venereal diseases, were received from Messrs Davey, Isitt, and Ell, M.P.'s, and the Prime Minister. The acknowledgment received from the Acting-Chief Health Officer was referred to the committee set up by the union in connection with this particular subject.
Further arrangements in regard to the Provincial Convention to be held on the 15th and 16th of this month were made. Miss Bishop and Mrs .F. Stewart were elected delegates, and Mrs T. E. Taylor and Mrs Pedler proxies for the convention.
