JUMBLE SALE.
A jumble sale was lieia at St. John's Schoolroom this afternoon, with the object of raising funds in connection with church expenses. On entering the schoolroom one was greeted by rows of cheerful pie melons, flanked by bunches of parsnips and green-topped carrots. But let it not be thought that vegetables held undisputed sway, for never was there a greater miscellany of articles to choose from. Millinery, mantles, literature, confectionery—all these departments were represented, and moi'e besides. The stallholders were as follow: Refreshments, Mrs Illingworth, Mrs Marquet, and Miss Buckley; produce, Mrs Thompson, Mis Pearse, Mrs Thome, and Miss "Pearse; sweets, Mrs Gofton, Miss La vers," and Miss Wood; women's, Mrs Daniel, Mrs Hunt, and Mrs Baker; men's, Mrs Wood and Mrs Marquet; chil-,. dren's, Mrs James and Mrs Gant; miscellaneous, Mr Harris and Master V. Harris; boots and hats, ,Miss Roberts; books, Mr Hannibal. The conveners of the sale are desirous of raising £4O, and if the labours of the secretary, Mrs Barwick, and the treasurer, Mr Hooper, are rewarded as they should be, this result will be achieved.
