COUNTY COUNCILS.
PAPARUA. . All the members were present at the last meeting of the council, with the exception of Cr Sandr,ey, who was granted leave of absence on account of ill-health. The Commissioner -of Crown Lands wrote regarding the resumption of one of the council's reserves and the substituting of .another area of land "in lieu thereof also with regard to the*closing of Barters and Rifle Butts Roads and the formation of a new road so that there would be no roadways intersecting the Prison Farm. The matter of discussing the position of the shinglo reserve was left to the clerk to arrange with Mr Pollen. It was also proposed to. alter the courge of the council's water race flowing through the farm and it was proposed to ask for a sketcli plan showing the alterations so that the council could inspect *the same to see "that their interests were safeguarded. Mr H. .1. Pearce wrote asking the council's approval to a railway siding into his land at Soe-kbufn. As "the proposed siding would encroach upon the roadway, part of which had already been tak v en by the Railway Department, the council could not see its way to grant approval. The following conditions of approval were laid down: That the Railway Department must widen the roadway to the full 66ft and allocate sufficient money to put the new portion of the road in good order. It was decided to commence cleaning water race on September 28.
