RECORDS BROKEN ON A MATCHLESS.
In Wellington M.C.C. hill climb las week a 3 J h.p. Matchless wiped tin floor with every other machine oppose*! to it. The course was one on which sheer horse-power would tell, being \ierfectly straight and excessively steep. The report says: —"In all heats and the final the" Matchless started like a shot from a gun, and completely outclassed everything, ,yp to and including all the 7 h.p. machines. It made fastest time of the day and record for the hill." This is' the fourth successive win in the Korth Island in four compettious, a side car trial, two hill climbs, and a race on the fiat. Be it noted that no other oh h.p. motor cycle got anywhere near the Matchless in the Wellington hill climb, the next fastest machines being of foreign make, with engines more than twice as large as the Matchless.
