EX-SOLDIEE SENTENCED. I're-ix Association. DUNE DIN. August 28. Edgar .John Blackburn Cloiigh, a halfcast Maqri, who pleaded guilty in the Lower Court to obtaining £l(i by means of false pretences,» came up for sentence at the Supreme Court this morning. Accused fought in the South African War. He left New Zealand as a private, and returned as a lieutenant. For cashing a valueless cheque in Wellington some time ago he had received four months', and early in this year he got into trouble at Christohurch over strike funds, and was fined £;">. Mr Justice Situ sentenced the accused to six months' imprisonment.
