LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
MEETING OF MANAGEMENT. A meeting of the Management Committee was held on Saturday evening, the delegates present, being: —Messrs A. C. Hooper (chairman), C. H. B. Poore, L. F. Simpson, £>» Buchanan, H. F. Garrard, F. j. Stevenson, W. Moyle. Correspondence was received from the executive of the Ladies' Hockey Association, stating that the fixture against the English Ladies' team on September 12, arranged to.have been played at the Show Grounds, would be rescinded owing to the Defence. Dei>artment taking over the grounds, which were now unfit to play on. It was decided to close the-season and cancel the remaining fixtures against the Taranaki and Manawatu representatives, and the Shield challenge matches against Ahuriri, Suburbs (Wellington), and North Shore (Auckland) teams, owing to the ground being unfit to play on. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs Poore, Simpson, ami the secretary, was appointed to notify the Agricultural and Pastoral Association that the Defence Department had fully occupied the playing grounds and quarters and further matches could not be played at the Show Grounds.
NORTHERN UNION CUP FINAL. Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 22. After a strenuous game the final for the Northern Union Cup to-day was won by Auckland, the scores being: Auckland 10, Wellington 6. RANGIORA SCHOOL v. WOODEND SCHOOL. The Rangiora boys journeyed to Woodend on Saturday, when a match was played on the Domain. The game resulted in a draw, both sides scoring six points. For Kangiora, Pringle and Oneach scored a try, and for "YVoodend, Eder scored two tries.
