The Board of Control of Lancaster Park forwarded a letter which it had' received from the Canterbury Ladies' Hockey Association, in which the association stated that as the Show Ground was occupied by the Expeditionary Force's camp, and was likely to be so for an indefinite term, it wished to apply again for the•= use of Lancaster Park oir September 12 for the match between the English ladies'-team and the " association's representatives. The association was agreeable to the conditions previously suggested except the percentage. It was prepared to accept 50 per cent, of the net gate.
The chairman stated that the Board of Control "had agreed to accept-20 per cent, of the gross gate,.instead• of the usual 25 per cent., if the union would accept 45 per cent, instead of its usual 75 per cent., and the Ladies' Hockey Association 35 per 1 cent. The ground charges would be divided pro rata. This was agreed to. It should be explained that September 12 is the date set down for the Canter-bury-Otago Rugby match at Lancaster Park. THE COMPETITIONS. The Competitions Committee recommended that, owing to the way in which the competitions have been disorganised lately, the junior, presidents' cup, and fourth grade competitions should be closed. At the present time the Marists and Lyttelton teams were leading, level, in the junior competition, but so many members of the Lyttelton team were on duty in the Coast Defence Corps that there was no possibility of their playing off. Therefore the committee suggested that Lyttelton and Marists should be'bracketed as winners of the competition. With regard to" the presidents' cup competition, the Merivale A team was' half-a-point ahead of the next team, Boys' High School, which it had defeated, and it was decided to declare them winners of the competition, and bracket Lyttelton and Marists for the junior competition. The Lyttelton team wins the fourth grade competition. GENERAL. The resignation of Mr A. K. Baker, who has joined the Expeditionary Force, was received, and a motion was passed wishing him success and a safe and speedy return. The West Coast Union wrote that it now was quite unable to send a team to Christehureh this season. The North Canterbury Club wrote withdrawing from the junior competition. The Otago Union wrote enquiring whether, in the present state of affairs, the Canterbury Union desired the former to fill its engagement on September 12, but adding that it was quite prepared to do so. It was decided to reply stating that Canterbury would be glad to receive, the Tisit. The committee made a vote of £3 3/to the Canterbury Centre of the Amateur Athletic Association, which lias held races in the half-time interval ai La««?a"ter Park.
