PERSONAL.
Mr P. J. Murray, of the Railway Department," who has been promoted to the position of assistant statiomnaster at Tima'ni, was entertained at the Papauui Social Club's rooms a few evenings ago and was presented with a gold albert and inscribed medallion. A numerous gathering of friends, particularly neighbours of Mr W. Dass, Marshlands, met at the residence.of Mr G. Sands last evening, to make a presentation to Mr Dass on the eve of his departure for Geraldine, where he has purchased a larger farm. Mr W. J. Walter, member of the Waimairi County Council, on behalf of the donors, presented Mr Dass with a handsomely mounted walking stick. Mr Walter referred in eulogistic terms of the'many services rendered by Mr Dass during his eighteen years' residence in the district, and his successful farming methods. Messrs G. Sauds, C. H. Walters, and E. Bountree spoke of Mr Dass's inestimable qualities as a neighbour and wished him every success in his new sphere of labour. Mr Dass suitably responded. The proceedings closed with the singing of "Auld Lang Svne."
