Two thousand rifles for the Nationalists have been landed at Dalkey (Dublin). . The police were decoyed from the spot by rumours of a cock fight. At the inquest on the victims of the shooting a.t-Dublin,- civilian witnesses gave evidence that the crowd was never within twenty yards of the soldiers, and was composed of girls and boys. ■ The only missiles thrown were banana skins. ■lt is announced that'Mr Harrel, the Assistant-Commissioner of Police, was not present during the shooting. . ••« Major Haig. gave evidence "that he asked four or five of his men protecting the detachments in the rear if their rifles were loaded. They replied: Yes. . The witness said: Get ready to fire on' my order. was then about to address the crowd when one of his men fired. ;This was followed, by. a. volleybut he (witness) did not order the men to fire. The company was thirty-one rounds of ammunition short when they reached the barracks. CONSTABLES REINSTATED. FOREARMS LANDED, "Times" and ''Sydney Sun" Services. (Received August I, 8 a.m.) i LONDON, July 31., Eight of the Dublin constables, who resigned, have been reinstated. A swift yacht landed rifles and ammunition at various ponts. in County Clare, and, as a result, 2300 rifles for the Nationalists have been hidden on the coast. The arms arrived at Tralee. (County Kerry) in motor cars, escorted"- by 200 volunteers, but the police did not interfere.
