Tlie Legislature Amendment Bill (Mr McCombs) "was read a first time to-day. The. Bill provides -for granting the right to women to sit in Parliament, a«d will bring New Zealand legislation into line with the Commonwealth law, which permits women to be nominated for the Senate. The Industrial Unions and Trade Unions Bill (Mr Me Combs), was -also read a first time. It will Ijring New Zealand into line * with., the position in England/ since the Trade Unions Act of '1913. passed, which ..virtually, reversed the Osborne judgment, an<l gave power to the unions to devote their funds to political'purposes.
