THE LIGHT THAT FAILED.
About a week ago a paragraph appeared in THE BUN pointing out that the City Council had removed a gas lamp from the corner of Norwood and Fisher Streets, Beckenham, and erected in its stead an electric light pole which, of course, will be useless for lightingpurposes for months to come. The matter 'was brought before the Beckenham-Fisherton Residents' Association at their meeting on Monday, and it is understood that the matter has been referred to the lighting committee of the City Council. A long-suffering resident in the locality is of the opinion that the committee will in all probability earnestly consider the question of inviting tenders for the supply of the six feet of piping required to connect with the main and the hanging of a lamp on the electric , light pole, but by the time the position has been thoroughly threshed out the electric light will be available. In the meantime residents can only say, "Lord, "send the light! "
