PROPORTIONAL REPRESENTATION REJECTED. P-rr,ss Association. WELLINGTON, July 17. Matters relating to electoral reform were discussed by the Municipal Conference to-day, when the proposal approving the principle of proportional representation was rejected. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr J. P. Luke (Mayor of Wellington); vice-presidents, Mayors of Auckland, Christchurch, Bunediu, and Nelson; executive committee, Mayors of Petonc, Hutt, Paimerston, Karori, Onslow, Masterton, and Mr A, It. Hindmarsh, M.P., Wellington.
