BILLIARDS.

POLICE v. C.R.C A billiards match was played last evening between teams from the police force and the Canterbury Rowing Club. The police won by 593 points to 508. The scores werj as follow, the name of the police player being mentioned firstin each ease:—O'Brien 100 v. Hobbs 64, Biekerdike 95 v. Johnson 100, Began 99 v. Evans 100, Williams iOO v. SapsJ ord 94, Joyce 99 v. Styche 100, Boniseh 100 v. Penwell 80. It will be noticed that each team won three games. CHRISTOHURCH CHAMPIONSHIP. A meeting of club delegates in connection with the Alcock Crystalate Amateur Billiards Championship of Ckristchurch was held in the Pioneer Club Rooms last evening, Mr R. S. Ward occupying the chair. The following nominations were received, amongst whom are several strangers to the competition, and who will no doubt be regarded as dark horses by the older comvetitors: —J. Biekerdike, E. A. Barrett, J. Martin, H. Ritchie, W. Smith, R. Rolland, E. Machin, J. Ardagh, R. Piercy, D. Tyneham, W. Ward; G. Claxton, J. Biggins. It was decided to play the competition* on the American principal, that of the entrants playing each other, and to c< mmence on Monday, July 27, followed by games on Mondays and Thursdays until the end of the competition. The draw for the first round will be announced in the course of a few days.
