A SMOKE CONCERT.

A most successful dinner and smoke concert was held at Aschoff's last night by the No. 6 Company Mounted Ambulance, over 65 being present. Lieut.-Col. P. C. Fenwick presided, and was supported at the table by the principal medical officer (Dr Richard Anderson) T and Mr F. M. Thompson (Honorary Territorial).. Proceedings were commenced with the toast.of "The King," after which those present settled down to a hearty meal. The chairman proposed the toast of the "Chief Medical Officer,'' who in responding congratulated No. 6 on the manner in which they bore themselves at the recent camp, and on the cleanliness of the company 's lines. The toast of the ' 1 Officer in Charge" (Lieut.-Col. Fenwick) was suitably proposed by Sergeant Ray, who remarked that the Colonel had worked the company up to its present high standard by his untiring efforts. In replying the Colonel made a humorous speech, and sat down amidst much enthusiasm, thus showing his great popularity with the men of No. 6. A fine musical programme was gone through, Mr C. Nathan making a splendid accompanist. Mr Henry Cliadwick, manager of the Opera House, and his assistant, provided the star item, their concertina items being heartily encored.
