(The Hon. Sir John Stokell Dodds, K.C.M.G., was the Chief Justice of Tasmania and Chancellor of the University. He was born at Durham, England, in IS4B, and with his parents,' arrived in Tasmania at an early age. Called to the Bar in V6l'l lie subsequently entered Varliameut. He became Attorney-Gen-eral: in the Crowther and Giblin ALinistries, IS7.S-Hl, and from 1881 to 1884 was Treasurer. He led the House from. LSS4 tn ISS7, being theiir appointed Senior J'-uisne Judge of Tasmania. Subsequently, in 1894, he was Acting Chief Justice, Chief Justice in 1808, and Lieutehant-(-ioveruor in 1!)0.'1.|
