THE MEAT TRUST.

EVIDENCE BEFORE COMMISSION. MARKET MUST BE AFFECTED. By Cable. — -Press Association. — Copyright (Received dune 24, 9.50 a.m.) MELBOURNE/June 24. Before the Meat Trust Commission the heads of several firms denied that there was any arrangement to ship meat to America. '

One of them stated that America had ceased to export meat, which meant that Australia was supplying markets which had previously been supplied by the United States.

The representative of another large firm admitted shipping meat to American firms for six mouths. The operations of the company had no apparent effect on the market, but when it had been at work for some time the market must be affected.
