LONDON, June 20,
Mr Arthur Holmes, the distinguished geologist, using radium as a means of calculation, estimates that the carboniferous period of the earth's life must have lasted 340,000,000 years, the Devonian 370,000,000, the pre-Cambrian 900,000,000 to 1,500,000,000, and the Ordovician and Silurian 430,000,000. In addition to these is the enormous period since the carboniferous age.
