WHEAT AND FLOUR. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright. (Received June 22, 8.50 a.m.) LONDON, June 21. Wheat is firm, and 36/- have been offered. The wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is estimated at 3,035,000 quarters, and for the Continent 2,290,000. Atlantic shipments total 469,000. The total to Europe for the week was 1,270,000; from Australasia IS,OOO. MISCELLAI*EOUS. Copra —Fair business is being done. South Sea bags, £23 5/- to £23 12/6. Hemp —Hemp is dull. High point, fair, June-August shipment, £24. Cotton —June-July shipment, 7.16 d. Rubber —Para 2/9 A, plantation 2/4 i, smoked 2/4. Tin Plates—l 2/6 to 13/6.

LONDON MARKETS. Writing under date May 15, Messrs Weddel & Co., London, report: — FEOZEN MEAT MARKET. Lambs. —The position of the frozen lamb market throughout the past week has been very firm owing to the scarcity of the supplies. Canterbury lambs have advanced in price, and are to-day quoted at per lb for the u/36Ibs, 65d per lb for the 36/421bs, and 6d per lb for the o/421bs. Secondary carcases are also scarce, and small weights realise s|d per lb. Best North Island carcases are in good request, and are quoted at s£d to 6d per lb for the small and medium weights and s|d to s|d per lb are current quotations for the ordinary brands. Small seconds are very scarce, and command 5Jd per lb. Australian lambs are unchanged from last week at s§d per lb for the small weights and s|d and 5d per lb for the medium and heavy weights. There are very few f.a.q. lambs on the market, and they realise about Id per lb less than the above quotations for g.a.q. River Plate lambs are now quoted at 5 l-16d to 5 7-16 d per lb.

Mutton. —There has' been a good enquiry for mutton of all descriptions this week, but with fairly, heavy stocks on hand it has not been. possible to advance prices, to any extent. Prime Canterbury sheep arei quoted at 3f<.l to 4M per lb according to weight, and best North Island carcases are selling at 3|d to 4-2 d per lb for the u/641bs. The o/641b carcases realise 3£d to 3§d per lb. Ewes are unchanged at 3Jd to 3-4 d per lb for the heavy-weights and 38d to 3gd per lb for the medium weights. Australian mutton is selling at 3M! to 3§d per lb for the small weights and to 38d per lb for the medium weights. Heavy-weight carcases continue to be sold at 3Sd to per lb. River Plate mutton is unchanged at 3£d to 3|d per lb. frozen Beef.—The good enquiry for hindquarters of frozen beef has been maintained and values are firm. Fores and crops have also .been in good request, ..but prices do not show any change. River Plate and New Zealand fores sell at 32d to 3M per lb, and Australian crops realise 3Jd to 3fd per lb. Australian, hinds are quoted at 4Jd to 4Jd per lb, and River Plate and New Zealand hinds at 48d to 4M per lb. Chilled Beef.—With lighter marketings at Smithfield arid a good demand, prices for chilled beef have remained firm throughout the week. Fores are quoted at 3§d per lb, and .hinds at ssd per lb, HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 22. The following is the High Commissioner's cable dated June 20. Note: — Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot. Mutton—The market is quiet, but there is no reduction in prices. Canterbury 4§d for light-weights, heavyweights 3sd; North Island 4§d for- lightweights. Lamb—There is less demand, especially for heavy-weights. Prices have slightly declined in all grades, as a result of heavy arrivals during the week. Canterbury two's 6id, heavy-weights other than Canterbury G 3-16 d for best quality.

Beef—The market is depressed. Quotations for New Zealand beef nominal. Supplies of American chilled beef are large. New Zealand hinds 4ijd, fores 3gd, chilled hinds sd, fores 3£d.

Butter—There is no alteration in the market since liist week. Danish is steady at 115/- to 117/-, New Zealand is quiet at 108/- to 112/-, and Australian 100/- to 104/-. Siberian is in fair demand at 98/- to 102/-, and Irish creamery is at 106/- to 110/-. Cheese—The market is quiet. Canadian, old make, is quiet at 68/- to 70/-, and new make is also quiet. White 62/to 63/-, coloured 63/- to 64/-. New Zealand is quiet; white 64/- to 65/-, coloured 65/- to 66/-.

Hemp—The market continues to be dull. The Manila market has declined for forward shipment, more than for near positions. Fair current £25, October to December shipments £25 10/. The output from Manila for the week was 21,000 bales. The New Zealand market is quiet, with prices slightly weaker. There were only a few sales at second hand on the basis of June to August shipments at, fair £23 5/-, good fair £26; spot quotations, good fair £25 10/-, fair £23. These quotations are nominal. Sisal—The market is quiet and steady. JN'ew York quotations, 53 cents, equal to £25 12/(i per ton c.i.f. Europe. Tow—The market is quiet. Second grade £i:> 5/-, third £l2 10/-. Hops—The market is quiet, with less enquiry. English 115/- to 132/-, Continental 95/- to 200/-, Californian 75/to 95/-, New Zealand 95/-. Wool —The market is quiet but firm.
