LEAGUE RUGBY.
MEETING OF CANTERBURY CENTRE. The Management Committee of the Canterbury. Rugby League met on Saturday evening. There were present: Messrs A.' E: ..Hooper.'. (chairman), G. Milne,. 11. F. Garrard, F. Moore, L. F. Simpson, D. Buchanan, R. J. Gapes, F. >i. Stevenson, 11. Falgar, 11. Boyns, A. Griffiths, and W. Movie. An apology for absence was received from Mr C. B. Poore.
S. L. Aslibolt 'wrote explaining that his brother, A. Aslibolt, was in no way implicated- in the breach of rules for which they. ha,d both .been disqualified.It was decided to grant the latter's request for removal of liis sentence. The St. 'Albans delegate wps asked to have the numbers issueti to players, and numbers to be worn. ■ . .. The secretary npti/le,d/ tliat it had been published in a Wellington paper that the Wellington team would be playing Canterbury on August 1. It was decided to communicate with the Wellington Centre. Mr Harper was to the Referees ' Association appointments committee.
The secretary of the New Zealand Council wrote that no communication had been received" from the managers of the English team in* reference to their tour of New anfll no information .was available respecting the fixtures. The date fixed for the Hawke's Bay match had been withdrawn, and allotted to Wellington; In answer to the enquiry re withdrawing players' passes, it had been notified by the English executive that privileges would be withdrawn during the English tour. The Tartinaki League secretary wrote that" the Taranaki team would play Auckland on August 15, Hawke,'s.Bay August "19, "Canterbury at Christchurcli August 22. r These dates we're Subject to alteration, if clashing with English fixtures.
The secretary.of the Auckland Centre wrote stating that the question of a visit to Christchurch would be dealt with at its next meeting. The question of the match to be arranged, to assist the scheme in aid of the Children .Opbii Air Honie- Fund, ■was and'the suggestion made -that'the Sydenham team play a selected side oil July The secretary was empowered to ! make' further" arrangements.
