THE BOOT TRADE.

Mr C>. E. Whiting, general secretary of the New Zealand Federated Boot Trade Union, leaves by the ferry steamer to-night for the North M the request of the union, to visit New' Plymouth, Auckland and Wellington. The object of his visit is that he may lay before the different unions and manufacturers affected by importations, the scheme already adopted by the Federation that all goods made in the Dominion should be branded, and also to endeavour to create a national movement in favour of fostering local industries. Mr Whiting expects to be away about a fortnight.
