The Sphinx Club banquetted Sir George Reid at the Oonnaught rooms. Sir George Reid said, that Australia had never-played a larger, part in the development of Empire than during the past twenty or thirty years, He hoped that all the rac.es of the Empire would develop the higher qualities, and that every part would become qualified to take a share in Imperial affairs, but any such attempt at present, he added, would lead to chaos.
