BOWLING.
THE SUMNER CLUB. The annual meeting of the Sunnier Bowling Club, held last evening, was presided over by Mr G. W. C. Smithson. It was stated in the committee's report that considerable improvements had been made to the club's property. Steps were now being taken toward the building of a pavilion. During the year forty active members and one honorary member had been elected, and two honorary members and one active member had resigned. The chairman said that very satisfactory progress had been made with the arrangements for building a pavilion. The sum of £9B 15/- had been obtained in donations, and £ti;l had been borrowed, so there were good prospects of the erection of the building being started in a few months. The meeting decided that money needed to furnish the pavilion should be raised by means of ■ a series of socials. Officers were elected as follow: Patron, Mr G. Humphreys; president, Mr G. W. C. Smithsonj vice-presidents, Messrs G. T. Rawnslev, T. D. DouJton, W. S. Eaphael, E. G. Wood, T. D. Gaffney, J. Buttle, and K. Bassett;__ hon. treasurer, G. T. Middleton; hon. 'secretary, E. A. Johnson; committee, F. Hays, F. Harris, W. Winter, R. Benson, |H. Rovve, H. W. Hislop, S. East; Match Committee, Messrs G. W. C. Smithson, C. T. Middleton, E. G. Rawnslev; auditor, C. B. Boulton. Prizes during the season Avere presented as follow: —Senior championship singles Mr W. F. Raphael, second Mr B. Benson; junior championship singles, Mr J. Philps; senior championship doubles, E. G. Rawnslev and T. W. Johnson*
