THE BRITISH BUDGET.
INCREASED TAXATION. IMPORTANT NEW PROPOSALS. "Times" and "Sydney Sun" Services. (Received May 5, 10.55 a.m.) LONDON, May 4. In the Budget, the estimated reve--nue is £200,055,000, and the expenditure £205,985,000. Another £4,000,000 are required to assist local authorities, and it is proposed to raise £9,000,000 by an additional tax on incomes over £IOOO, ranging from 10^d to 16d up to £3OOO, while the supertax limit is lowered to £3OOO. These readjustments will yield £5,250,000, and the supertax £2,500,000. The death duties have been increased on estates of over £60,000, yielding £600,000. Capital invested abroad is to be taxed, yielding £250,000, and the balance of the deficit will be taken from the Sinking Fund.
