CITY ELECTIONS.
CENTRAL WARD. A requisition is out signed by a goodly number of the electors of the Central Ward, requesting Mr* Edward Smith, late superintendent of the Fire Brigade, to contest the Central Ward seat. Mr Smith has promised to give his decision to-night. Mj George Simpson, builder and contractor, has been nominated for the Central Ward.
The Mayor, who is standing for reelection, will probably deliver addresses in each of the wards before election day.
Mr A. Williams, one of the retiring members for the St. Albans Ward, has been nominated for re-election.
Speaking to a SUN representative today, Mr Holland said that, apart from speeches at local functions, socials, and other gatherings which he attended in his official capacity, he had, during the past two years, delivered 30 addresses to citizens' meetings, dealing with the various proposals brought forward by the City Council. Mr J. W. Beanland, builder, announces that he will be a candidate for the St. Albans Ward.
