THE VETERANS' CLUB. The Christchurch Veterans closed their season on Thursday last, with a match against Tai Tapu at Hagley Park. The Veterans won by GS runs. Their score was 207 '(Prebble 4G retired, Lawrence 41 retired, Brittan 23, Bascand 19, Harris 17, Cook 16, Page 12, Jewell 12 not out). Tai Tapu replied with 139 (Griffiths 30, S. Penlington -2(5, Hubbard 24, Mansell 20 not out). For the Veterans, Prebble, Lawrence, Bascand, and Rattray were the most successful bowlers, whilst Barnett and Ferryman did best for Tai Tapu.

After the match a smoke concert was held in the Caledonian Hall. The president of the Veterans' Club (Mr B. Guthbert) was in the chair, and several toasts were honoured. The secretary stated that the club's record was: —Matches played 33, won 20, lost 9, drawn 4. Musical items were rendered by Messrs Cuthbert, Brittan, Jewell, Hubbard, Griffiths, and Lawrence.
