Fourteen persons are known to havjQ been killed and four injured, one_mbrtally, in the. recent fire in a five-storey tenement.. The firemen who; were searching the wreckage announced that 14 bodies have been recovered. 'Among them was a woman with a babe in her arms, Several are missing, and many bodie3 l were /go" badly charred as to render identification .almost impossible. '■The. fire started in the basement of a five and ten cent., store which occupied the first floor, and spread rapidly up, the stairway.
