ASTOUNDING RECOVERY.

POST OFFICE SAVINGS BANK'S DEPOSITS. Press Association. DITNEDIN, April 13. The Hon. Mr Allen states that tha Post Office Savings Bank made ; an astounding recovery in the ratio; of deposits to the withdrawals, as compared with this time last year. Tfhere was a tremendous drop in deposits?! before tin present-Government came in. Probably the rise of interest to 3$ per cent, had something to do with the recovery, but the improved state of affairs was not due to that alone. He attributed it mainly to the strike effects dying out, and the general firming of the Dominion's business. It was an undoubted fact that people had now more confidence in the country and the Government that controlled the country's affairs.
