REDUCTION TO NEW ZEALAND.

At the Pacific Cable Board, Mr Matthew Nathan, Secretary to the Treasury, moved to rescind the recently granted concession in New Zealand cable rates. The Hon. Thomas Mackenzie moved as an amendment that the whole question .of .Australasian'rates be referred to committee in. order, if possible, to make further' reductions. Mr~ Mackenzie pointed out that' where reductions had been made they had been' compensated for an. increase in the revenue. He mentioned the increasing reserves of the board and stated tha;t the contributions from the Imperial and Dominions Parliaments had been £55,000 in a decade. < The amendment was carried.
