The Camperdown correspondent of the Melbourne ''Argus" Avrites: —Five cows belonging to the well-known Ayrshire breeder, Mr W. P. Brisbane, of Gowrie Park, gave in the Government test, covering nine months, a butter return of the value of £lll 12/9. Mr Brisbane claims for Ida, of Gowrie Park, one of the quintet, that she has broken the Victorian record. Her return showed: —Date of calving, March 27, 19i:>; date of entry to test, April .'5, 191.'?; number of days in test, 273; weight of miJk last day of test, 2;>lb; weight of millc, K),S(!7iflb; average test, •3.1; butter-fat, sof>lb: standard required, 20; estimated weight of butter, (532i1b. A herd of 20 cows of the average quality of the live tested, grazing on an area of 70 acres of '/rises " country, would earn £444 annually, and the members of one family could do all the work required without outside-help.
