LETTERS TO THE EDITOR.

MILKMEN AND MILK CARTS. To the Editor of THE SUN. Sir, —Is it not a fact that our dairies are under.-the. supervision of, inspectors to insure the public having a. clean milk supply? Are their duties limited to the inspection of dairies or do they extend to the inspection of the' milk carts which daily carry the milk for distribution? The dirtiness of some of the milk carts is a really serious matter. Public sentiment should be aroused against the present state of things. It would also be an advantage if some milk distributors gave their, faces a wash before starting their daily task.—l am, etc., MILK O. SPORTS BODIES AND THE DOMAIN BOARD.To the Editor of THE SUN. Sir,—There has been considerable controversy i*ecently of the' ' treatment of sports bodies by the Domain Board., Through the medium of your paper I would like to bring jj>efore the notice of the public the following facts:— The Canterbury Football Association rented two grounds as perusual at Hagley Park for which they were requested to pay, as per not usual, £lO cash in advance, which. request was reluctantly acceded to. This, dated from April 1. During the last few days of March the Domain; Board, I presume, allowed a trench to be dug across one of the grounds from corner to corner. This trench has since" been filled in, in the usual careless way, and a good amount allowed for sinkage, making the ground in any reasonable thinking person's eyes unplayable. " I would point out that the two grounds .at their best are not fit to go under the name of football grounds, and whe.n one looks at the beautiful turf .provided by the Council at St. , Albans for £1 less per ground, one wonders what sort of men the Domain Board consists of and if they , have ever seen Hagley Park at all. This assuredly must, be the ex2>lanation. \Great improvements are necessary, unless the so : called Domain Board desire to be known in future as the Don't-do-anything-with mijght-jand-main B.oard.—l am, etc., SOCCER.
