DRAWING THE LINE.
Fashionable women here, in an endeavour to follow Continental vogues, adopted the green wig and accepted the skillet hat without a murmur, but when the backless evening gown was exhibited by the models there was evidence of a revolution of ideas. Shocked '' Ohs! " resounded through the room when one of the models walked out with nothing on her back except - a string of beads. The gown was of a bright green crepe de chine veiled with green tulle of a lighter shade. The exclamations of the women indicated that the new idea will not take on in Philadelphia. As the model announced, four diagonal strings of beads weire all that stood between her and pneumonia.— Cabled item from Philadelphia. Oh,- Fashion, Madame Fashion, Aren't you going rather far? Have you really no compassion— Is there nothing that you bar? We have dyed our hair bright green, And we've donned the skillet hat; But this backless evening garment, — We must draw the line at that! IVe have feelings still to shock, Though you mayn't think it true N When you see us in a frock Of the style called peek-a-boo. When you see us wear a skirt Mostly slit and slash—that's flat! But the barely-beaded back— We must draw the line at that! "e We like to wear the latest, As the Continentals do, And we have the up-to-datest Brand of hair and figure too. Up till now we've followed blindly, Not an eyelash did we bat; But this is a heathen fashion, — We must draw the line at that! S. I. R.
