(From Our Special Correspondents.) AMBERLEY. A committee meeting of the AmberIcy Miniature Rifle Club was held in the club rooms 011 Monday evening. Mr "W. A. Nicholls, president, presided. It was decided to accept Mr J. Osborn's tender of £l6 odd for'lengthening the present range to a 25yds range. A committee consisting of the president, captain, vice-captain, and secretary was formed to find the cost of a suitable acetylene gas plant and to arrange for the opening night when the •work is completed. KAIAPOI. The Axemen's Carnival, to be held at Kaiapoi on Easter Monday, promise® to be one of the most successful gatherings yet held judging by the large entry already received. The chopping events have drawn large entries, •whilst record entries have been received for the running and cycling events. A special train will Jteave Christchurch for the carnival at 10 a.m., returning from/ Kaiapoi at 5.45 p.m. A grand dance and a picture show will be held in the evening. METHVEN. The entries for the Methven Agricultural and Pastoral Association's third Annual Show easily constitute a reeord. The total number received, including special prize entries, being 1360, as against 892 in 1913 and 624 in 1912. The show, which takes place on April 9, should certainly prove the most successful yet held by the association. The Department of Agriculture has signified its intention of sending/a comprehensive exhibit for the fixture. ... v __ SHEFFIELD. The Malvern .Oddfellows held a church parade on Sunday afternoon in the Sheffield Presbyterian Church. There, was a large congregation, which joined heartily in the service. The preaeher was Rev. J. Johnston.
On Monday a working bee in connection with St. Ambrose's Church, Sheffield, met at the vicarage grounds to weleome the Eev. and Mrs. H. F. Allen to their new home and to clear the premises of weeds, etc., Prominent among the workers were Mesdames Wright and Pole and Messrs fj. R. CuHen, G. H, Judd, €.■ Worth, G. T. Wright, D. M'Millan, and the Eev. Jasper Smythe. The induction service is to be conducted by Bishop Julius at 7.30 p.m. on Friday.
