NEW BRIGHTON.
The committee of the New Brighton Surf Club met on Monday evening in the pavilion. Present: —Mr L. Cookson, vice-captain (in the chair), Messrs E. Clarkson, F. Suter, V. G. Drake, F. Cocks, R. A. Campbell, L. C. Matson, C. Taylor, D. E. Jones, A. G Munns, and A. P. Hopkins, hon. secretary. The New Brighton Fire Brigade wrote, asking permission to use the pavilion for a water display on March 28. The request was granted, provided the hose was not taken through the building; Captain A. W. Owles was unanimously elected a life member of the club.
The secretary was instructed to write to the Royal Humane Society, asking for additional lifebuoys to be placed on the pier. The recent picture benefit at the Colosseum resulted in an addition to the club's coffer of £7 19/6. Mr V. Drake was. accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his work in connection with the matter.
The following will play for the club against the Fire Brigade in the fancy dress cricket match on March 28:—-L. C Matson, F. Suter, W. Cookson, D. Jones, P. Soanes, E. Clarkson, A. M. Chivers, L. Cookson, F. Cocks, A. G. Munns, and A. Tucker.
