FLOODS IN THE NORTH.
Press Association. GISBORNE, March 25. The floods of the Waipaoa River are subsiding. Beyond breaking the lie Works temporary bridge, no damage has been done. " At Mphi the flood was the highest for years, and a report from Port Awanui states that the Waipu River is in heavy flood, causing a loss of sheep. The extent of the damage done is not yet. known. The water is nearly up to the decking of the Waiapu bridge, both approaches of which have been washed away. The river is now going down.
