PUBLIC WORKS MINISTER.

GORE DEPUTATIONS. Press Association. GOBE, March 18. The Hon. W. Fraser arrived at Gore last evening. A deputation from the Gore Bdrough Council waited on him relative to the flood protection report recently received from the department's engineers. The Minister promised to subsidise any work undertaken to the extent of £1 for £l. The matter will now be placed before the ratepayers. The if undertaken, will be carried out by the Public Works Department. A deputation from the Gore High School Board of Governors approached the Minister relative to the local High School having no endowments, and suggested pooling the reserves. Mr Fraser promised to place the matter before the Minister of Education. He advised the local board to make common cause with otfier boards similarly placed and endeavour to find a solution.
