CONSOLS AND STOCKS. By Cable. — Press Association. — Copyright. LONDON, March 13. Current quotations for Consols and Australasian Government stocks, compared with those of last week, and the corresponding period of last year, are:— !

The following are the prices realised for the fleece portions of the clips named: —Te top 13$ d,. average 12$ d; Mako, top 12-£ d, average llgd; Tokomaru, top 13id, average 12Jd. BRADFORD WOOL MARKET. Business on the Bradford wool market is slow. Merinos are firm, but medium crossbreds are slightly easier. For 46's 17£ d, 40's 16Jd, others unchanged. WHEAT AND FLOUR. Wheat. —The market is dull, and tending in buyers' favour. There is no bidding. The United States winter crop promises to be large. Australian spot is nominally 39/-. No New Zealand is offering. Flour. —The market is steady, and good business is being done in Australian patents, April shipment, at 25/6. Spot lines are quiet at 26/6. OTHER PRODUCE. Oats. —The market is dull. New Zealand spot is practically exhausted. Beans.—The market is neglected. Good Nsw Zealand lots, 35/6 ex Eftpre; Peas.—The market is quiet. New crop maples, March-April shipment; 45/ci.f. '-■■- BUTTER AND CHEESE. , Butter.—The market is lifeless, buyers being apathetic. Danish 122/ : to 124/-, Australian choicest salted 110/to 112/-, unsalted 112/- to 116/-. Secondaries are neglected owing to Siberian competition, and are quoted at 104/- to 1.08/-. New Zealand "salted 111/- to 113/-, unsalted 114/- to 116/-. Cheese.—The market is flat. White 62/- to 63/-, coloured 64/- to 65/-.

MOUNT MORGAN; RETURN.

The Mount Morgan return for the 23 days ended March 8 is:—22,510 tons ore were produced for 494 tons copper, and C 166 ounces of gold valued at £61,171. 7_' N.S.W. GOVERNMENT SECURITIES. .. The total public debt of New' South Wales on June 30,1913, was £106,17,0,747. The stock and share list, dated March 2, 1914, of a well-known Sydney stockbroker, was recently shown to us, .and it contains the following announcement: —"I can obtain Government 4 per cent, stock at the Treasury due 1923 at par, free of cost to client, the Government paying the commission." Investors therefore do not appear to be rushing the 10 year 4 per cent, stock of the State of South Wales, and neither would it appear are they likely to oblige New Zealand with cheaper money for some time to come. ~ ( , TO-DAY'S POULTRY MARKET,', There was a large entry -of 3150 birds in the poultry market to-day. s£r Merrett drew the attention of farmers 1 to the Governor's advice in his speech at Ashburton on the poultry industry. The quality of birds is greatly on the improve in Canterbury, and high prices were obtained. Table chickens realised 6/- to 9/2, hens 2/- to 5/6, ducks 3/6 to 7/2, geese 6/- to 7/3, turkeys 28/-, pullets 3/6 to 9/9, all per pair. THE EGG MARKET. The supply of eggs continues plentiful, the continued warm weather being conducive to production. Canterbury Egg Circle, first grade 1/5, second grade 1/3 to 1/4, store eggs, 1/2 to 1/3 per dozen. FRUIT MARKET.' The following were'the ruling prices in to-day's markets: —Apples, dessert, 2id per lb; apples, cooking, Id to l|d per lb; peaches, lsd to 2{ d per lb; oranges, 12/- per case; pears, dessert 5/-, stewing 2/- to 3/- per ease; bananas, 12/- per case; plums, 3d per lb; tomatoes, lid to 2Ad per lb; grapes, 6d to 9d per lb; cucumbers, Id per lb; potatoes, 3/6 per cwt; cabbages, 6d to 1/6 per doz.; cauliflowers, 2/- to 4/- per doz.; carrots, 6d to 7d per doz.; turnips, 5d to 6d per doz.; rhubarb, 1/to 1/3 per doz;.; parsnips, 1/- to 1/1 per doz.; onions, 5/- per cwt. Supplies of local fruit are now plentiful.

LAND SALES. There was a good attendance at the sale of 3500 acres of the Teviotdale

Estate on behalf of Mr G. D. Greenwood, conducted by Dalgety and Co. and the New Zealand Farmers' Co-oper-ative Association, Ltd., to-day:— >. Lot 1, of 294 acres, brought a bid of £lO 10/- per acre, but was passed in, and the remainder was offered, but prices did not improve, and the land was all passed. The Dalmeny Park land was submitted by Pyne and Co., and the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association, and was also passed.

THE EXPORT TRADE.* The export during the week has been 1182 head of poultry and 1048 dozen eggs, representing for Canterbury producers £305.

THE SHARE MARKET. There has been a slight improvement in the business done on the various Stock Exchanges throughout the Dominion, but the bulk of the business put through has been in mining stock. Banks. —Bank of Australia: A parcel of these changed hands, during the week at £123 10/-. National Bank of New Zealand: Buyers have been offering for these at £5 7/6, with sellers at £5 8/-; no business being done. New Zealand: There have been buyers of these at £ll 18/-, with .sellers at £l2 and £l2 1/6'. New Zealand Eights have been sold at £4 17/9, wMi sellers still offering at £4 19/. Union of Australia: Sellers are offering at £59, with no buyers. Coal. —Taupiri have been enquired for at 21/3, with'sellers asking 22/-; no sale reported. Westport had buyeflgs at 30/3, with sellers at 30/9, two sales being reported *at 30/6. WestportStockton Ordinary were asked for at 3/-, with sellers at 3/9, l no business being reported. Westport-Stockton Preference were offered at 9/8, with no buyers. , Financial.—There has been no business done at all under this heading, although buyers are still offering for National Mortgage at 79/-, and River Plate at.42/-. Gas. —Several parcels of Christchurch Gas have changed hands during the week, at prices ranging from £6 15/- to £7 1/-, the latest quotation being, buyers £7, sellers £7 1/6. Hokitika were quoted during the week at £5 15/-. with no buyers. Wellington Ordinary: There were buyers during the week at from £l6 to £l6 2/6, with no sellers. Wellington Preference have been enquired for at 19/6, with no sales reported. ; Insurance.—There has been very little doing in these during the week. New Zealand found buyers at 115/- and 115/6, with buyers still offering at the first'figure** .. Meat Preserving.—Christchurch Meats are being enquired" for at last week's figure, namely, £ls 15/-. Gear Meats also have buyers at £l4 5/-, with no sellers. Canterbury Frozen Meat, changed hands at £8 17/6. Shipping.—New Zealand Preference: Buyers were offering £lO 1/-, with no sellers. Union Steams, (Ordinary): Several pareels have changed hands at prices ranging from £1 4/4£ to £1 4/7£, the latest quote being buyers £l/4, sellers £1 4/9. Union Steam Preference had buyers at 20/1 to 20/3, with several sales reported. Buyers are still offering at 20/2, with sellers at 20/3. Miscellaneous. —Bowron Bros.: Several sales have been reported at 6/-, the latest figures being, buyers 5/9, sellers 6/6. New Zealand Farmers' changed hands at 45/-, sellers still offering at 45/6, with no buyers. Taranaki Qil' are quoted, buyers 3/-, sellers 4/3, with no sale reported. Canterbury Farmers' have been quoted during the week at 58/> and the Preference issue at 102/-, but there wer'e no buyers. Kaiapoi Woollen Ordinary are asked for' at £5 3/-, and the Preference issue have been quoted, buyers .102/6, with no sales. Manning's Brewery haye changed hands at 82/6, sellers still offering at that figure. Ward and Co. have had enquiries at 100/-, and Crown Brewery have sellers at 36/-. New Zealand Drugs have been asked for at 45/- and 45/3. Mining. —Business under this heading has been fairly brisk in the *' other centres, the only sale recorded locally being that .of Boss Goldfields .at 3/10£. Ross Goldfields: Sales have been reported at prices ranging from 3/8 to 3/10£, the latest quote being, buyers 3/10," sellers 4/3. Waihi: There have been several sales of this stock at prices varying from 46/6 in the early part of the week to 48/3 at the end of the week. Waihi Grand Junction have been sold at 25/7£ and 25/9. Talisman Consolidated sold at 42/6, sellers are still offering 43/6. =Mount Lyell were asked for on the local Exchange at 24/6, with no sellers.
