RANGIORA.

The Rangiora Borough Council met test evening. Present: —The Mayor (M*J. Sansom), Crs C. I. Jennings, H. *joyd,W. G. WrigM,JH, Dix, I. .Sutherland, W. Blackett, F. B. Lane, and W. M'Gruer. • "■\ A letter was received from the Kaiajjoi Borough Council, asking support in urging the Government to arrange to forward weather and flood reports from Bealey. - The request was agreed to. Permission was. granted to hold an openair, meeting in Percival Street on Sunday next. It was" resolved to take 12 pages in a-Guide to Christchurch and surroundings at £2 per page. A. motion, by Cr Wright that a comliaittee be formed to revise the schedule bf duties of the Town Clerk, assistant, jjjand foreman, and to report at next meeting was carried. Complaints were received from residents of certain badly lighted streets. It was resolved that the Gas Committee inspect and report at the next meeting. The. Gas Committee's report for the months was: —Receipts £165 1/8, expenses £4OB 12/1. • The Finance Committee reported ihat the receipts were £372 7/3, expenses £?SI 18/9, and the credit balance at the bank was £578 13/8. The Mayor, speaking of the Rangiora Post Office, said: "For the amount of business put through, the building was a thorough disgrace to the Rangiora district. It was small and unhealthy, and he thought the district deserved better facilities than they were receiving at present. The building required Enlarging and renovating both externally and internally.
