NEW FASHIONS.

Messrs Beath and Co., Ltd., are making a fine display of model costumes, out-door and theatre coats and wraps, as well as some particularly fascinating

evening dresses. In costumes, a particularly smart model was. shown in royal blue and black jacquard, lined with shot silk in the same tones, and finished with the new sash effect. A navy serge costume was shown with a vest effect of floral ratine ornamented with a row of tiny flat gold buttons, the effect being decidedly novel and chic. Larger buttons, repeating the tones of the vest, composed the fastening, and also ornamented the sleeves. Another navy serge costume was finished with wide French braid in a kind of sash effect, the ends meeting at the back and being finished with tassels. Another costume that struck a new and delightful note was made in a wallflower shade of fancy broche, the sash of black moire having ends finished with deep black fringe. Another costume was reminiscent of the Bulgarian style, and was carried out in mole-coloured ottoman cloth. Another was in violet ratine, with a vest of velour cloth with Oriental markings, collar of violet velvet lined with the velour. En passant, it may be mentioned that leading styles in the new costumes folshowing vests of fancy velour, broch6, or ottoman silk. An ultra-stylish model was carried out in violet broche, the coat being slightly high-waisted, and finished with a sash caught into a buckle in front, and the skirt draped in the newest style. A very Frenchlooking gown was carried out in the new copper satin charmeuse, mounted on silk, and finished with a sash of .peacock blue satin, the V neck being, finished with a deep ruffle of fine lace. Another dainty gown was composed of saxe blue, silk crepe, with wide belt and sash ends of violet velvet. In evening dresses was shown a dear little dress of grey silk velvet in brocaded effect, with a top of shadow-lace veiled in ninon, and trimmed with cut steel beads. Another in pale blue poplin was finished with a waist-belt of black broehfi and panne velvet, while a third was extremely dainty, being composed of white silk, veiled in ninon, and finished with top and tunic of flowered ninon. Theatre coats included a number of designs in face cloth carried out in tomato, saxe, cherry, and tan shades principally. An evening wrap in goldencoloured brocade struck one as something new and especially charming. Day coats were fashioned of '' Teddy Bear'' cloth, reversible mixtures, nap cloths, velours, rough serges, and ribbed effects, while for the woman with a longer purse there were coats of Bussian pony and Coney seal. A range of the useful little sports coats were shown in cloth of all colours, including mustard, canary, olive, sage, tan, brown, and tabae. .61.
