The cruiser Waldeck Rousseau is ashore in the Gulf of Jouan. She is deeply embedded in the mud, and her machinery is seriously damaged. [The armoured cruiser Waldeck Rousseau was built at Lorient, France, launched in 1908, and completed in 1911 at a . cost of £1,301,308. Her displacement is 13,780 tons, length 515 ft, and width 703 ft, with a draught of 27ift. Her engines, of 36,110 indicated horse power, are capable of developing a speed of 23.10 knots per hour. She carries 14 7.6 in guns, 20 2.4 in, and 2 Ipr, and her complement is 738 officers and men.]
