Roope Rooster Final
LEAGUE’S CHARITY DAY
Ponsonby v. Richmond
TOMORROW will be Charity Day with the Rugby League code in Auckland. The chief attraction at Carlaw Park will be the final of the senior grade knockout competition for the Roope Rooster trophy.
The first curtain-raiser will be provided by the Northland junior representatives and the Ponsonby Club s third open grade team. This will be followed by a motor-cycle football match between the Sports Motor-cycle Club and the North Shore Club* Richmond lias been in fine form for the Roope Rooster this season and is expected to make Ponsonby step it out tomorrow. In fact, on its showing against Alarist and City, both of which teams it defeated. Richmond will be a favourite with many of the spectators. However, Ponsonby holds the championship of the grade and as it has not been fully extended in the first two Rooster matches there is no knowing liow far it may go tomorrow. Richmond relies on shock tactics and an almost impregnable defence. Ponsonby has a brilliant attacking back lino when it is properly working and it may be that this will play a big part in tomorrow’s match. At any rate the game should be a spectacular one.
