TE IUUWHATA’S NEW NAME
The Geograprical Advisory Board has bowed to the opinion of the Akarana Maori Association by consenting to recommend to the Railway Department the use ot' Takauwhata as the new name for Te Kan what a. The board originally decided to recommend Kauwhata as the alteration and it still It olds tha t the name possesses meaning, though the Akarana Association contends that it has no significance. The association based itfr* opinion on the views held by the late Mr. 11. Dunbar Johnston, a judge of Uie Native Land Court.
