A Punjab Government report scathingly criticises the general administration of the municipalities in the Punjab, particularly at Lahore. A report from Ambala, Rawalpindi, refers to the corruption and systematic frauds in every department in Lahore, while Ambala members, always actuated by personal communal motives, seldom take a broad liberal view of their civic duties. Jute , growers in Bengal have produced a bumper crop, for which, owing to the lack of world trade, they are receiving disastrously low prices. Every branch of Bengal economic life is affected.
