NEW BUS SERVICE
NORTHCOTE SUPPORTS SCHEME The application of the Marine Suburbs Bus Company to run a bus service from Highbury Corner, Birkenhead, to the Xorthcote Wharf, via Onewa Road, was considered at a special meeting of the Northcote Borough Council held last evening, tho Mayor, Air. A. E. Greenslade, sidingAir. T. Smith, manager of the Alarino Bus Company, attended, and spoke in support of his application. Messrs. Al. G. Swanson, W. Watson, P. Stewart and J. Blackledge attended as a deputation representing the residents of Onewa Road and urged the council to recommend tho proposed service to the No. 2 Licensing Authority. All*. E. W. Christmas, secretary of tho Waitemata Bus and Transport Company, stated that his company was prepared to extend its service to meet the wishes of the residents of Onewa Road and also to run a more frequent service. After a long discussion it was decided to support the proposal. Cr. H. J. C. George was appointed to attend the meeting'of the licensing authority to support the council’s resolution.
