FIELDS TOO BIG

DIVISIONS POSSIBLE MAIDEN AND DURIE HACK There are # three races on tomorrow’s Wanganui programme run over six furlongs. The barrier situated at that starting point is very roomy and will enable a field of 25 to line up in Comfort. That is the safety number, however, and that figure is exceeded in both the Maiden Race and the Dtirie Hack Handicap. There are 28 in the former contest and a similar number in the latter. Should the safety number still be exceeded the events wall be run in divisions, but it is to be hoped that course scratcliings will render this unpopular step • unnecessary. * The divisions have been provisionally drawn up as follow: MAIDEN RACE First Division—Auckland Gas. Amun Ra, Baskier, Sir Mercury. Acco. Tar Baby, Hinewai, Danny Boy, Prince Desmond, Guerester. Gran Chaco, Star of Gold, Arvada, Souchong, Solange. Second Division.—AVarscrip, ITonowhero, Thunderstorm, Takahue, Jayson, Spear Lad, Seneschal, Biflex. A’andyke, Cessation. Laconic, Nightmare and Pandia. DURIE HACK First Division.— Taranto, Royal Finance, Brilliant Light, Orapai, Acmil, Huntingdon. Sporting Chance, Little Wonder, Tentca.il, Abbey Queen, Arrowzone, Baskier, White Doe, Catherine of Aragon. Second Division.—Pomp, Autopay, Zarene, Gowan Lea, Pakitere. Dancing Star. Ganpat, Monaloff, Lady Spear, Pat’s Boy. Wild Country, Pass On. Pandia, Gold Collector.
